History

History of Our Bank


First National Bank was charted in 1934 as a national bank. It currently has offices in New Bremen, Wapakoneta, Sidney, New Knoxville and Botkins, Ohio. The Bank is engaged in serving the financial needs of individuals, businesses, and organizations. The principal business of the bank is making loans and accepting deposits from the general public.

The main office of the bank is located at 435 South Washington Street in New Bremen, Ohio. It moved to this state of the art facility on September 12, 1994. At one time the bank was located at the southeast corner of what is now State Route 274 and State Route 66. In the late 1950's the bank moved to 115 North Main Street and shared a building with the United States Post Office. It remained there for more than 30 years until it moved to its current location.

On October 1, 1988, First National Bank purchased all the outstanding stock of the American Budget Company. American Budget Company was incorporated in Ohio in 1928 with its main office in New Bremen, Ohio. The company operates eight offices at the following locations in West Central Ohio: Versailles, Coldwater, Lima, Sidney, St. Mary's, Wapakoneta, Kenton, and New Bremen. The principal business of the Company is the making of consumer loans. It operates under the Ohio Mortgage Loan Act. American Budget Company also owns 100% of the New Bremen Life Insurance Company. This Company is an Arizona-based insurance affiliate which functions as a re-insurer of credit life and accident insurance related to loan and retail accounts.

First National Bank began branch bank operations on October 15, 1992 with a new facility located at 406 North Hamilton Road in Wapakoneta, Ohio. The branch operation was very successful. On April 26, 1996, a second branch was opened in a new facility at 347 West Russell Road in Sidney, Ohio. The bank's next full service branch was opened January 4, 1999, at 204 West State Street in Botkins, Ohio.

On June 23, 1999, First National Bank began a mobile branch banking operation. We are currently offering this mobile service to the residents of Dorothy Love Retirement Community located at 3003 West Cisco Road in Sidney, Ohio. The Bank provides services one day a week for a limited number of hours. The Bank will consider offering mobile banking services in other locations in the area it serves.

On October 7, 2005 First National Bank began a branch office in New Knoxville, Ohio. It was located at 302 South Main Street. On August 28, 2006 a grand opening ceremony was held for a brand new office that serves as our current location. This new branch is a full service banking facility, located at 104 South Main Street in New Knoxville, Ohio.
